Balera is a dynamic celebration of texture, light, and nostalgia.
It was conceived for the second chapter of OFFTAMAT, Studio Tamat’s immersive,
site-specific design platform.
Born from a creative dialogue between Studio Tamat, Arianna De Luca,
and the historic tile manufacturer Ninefifty of Caltagirone,
Balera unfolds as a collection of glazed terracotta wall tiles and modular wall lights.
Designed with a 20 × 20 cm format at its core, the pieces articulate a modular language where surface,
structure, and light come together in harmonious rhythm.
Evoking the joyful dynamism of Italy’s ‘60s dance halls, particularly Dante Bini’s iconic discotheques,
Balera bridges architectural narrative and playful form.
Each hand-decorated element is unique,
colored through a “shared chromatic language” forged by the collaborators,
melting Mediterranean warmth with mid-century vibrancy.
Balera comes in four colour palettes
that can be mixed and matched into an infinite number of patterns and combinations.
